Can you pick up the subtle clue that this was for a 50th birthday present? And he's rather keen on African drumming, to boot. Who'd have guessed.
The silver was cut to shape and the channels for the enamel engraved. Then it was hammered to give some fullness of form before the enamel was inlaid and fired. I was rather pleased to see that when it was being worn, the light catches the deep blue enamel in different ways to give little flashes of purple (though the photo show this as some redness). A double length of leather cord seemed suitably ethnic. |
