Enamelled Flower |
I could pretend that the speckles in the enamel are meant to be pollen falling from the stamen (or is it stigma), but it's just one of those times when the enamel didn't play (probably because I didn't grind it finely enough before firing. And the brown should have been red... but it has taken a nice golden tinge in places. All a bit unpredicted, really.
But yet...... I still rather like it. The blue has taken a delicious turquoise tint and the texturing of the leaf veins shows through quite subtly. The acid yellow/green of the stamen is completely wrong, but somehow perfectly right. It's approx 30mm diameter, and I've set it on a leather cord. With the right outfit, this will look great, but I can't claim that it's my best work, so I'm offering it at a special low price. |
