Autumnal Flower |
Working with enamels is always an adventure, especially when you start blending and layering them. I love the way that the - in theory - conventional colours I chose for the petals on this flower have combined to produce the most wonderful effect of late autumn - coppery leaves, flashes of gold and blue skies, still some rich greens and a surprising (for me, anyway) metallic sheen in places.
Usually, macro-photography just magnifies even the tiniest imperfections but it is really helping this time. This is definitely as one-off: I probably couldn't reproduce it, even if I tried. Maybe I'll give it a go: it's one of my favourite pieces. I've decided to set it on a brown silicon rubber cord rather than the leather shown in the photo (though you can have leather if you prefer) |
