"Always Kiss Your Children..."
... or, to give the full quotation:
"Always kiss your children goodnight,
I expect that the sentiments of this quotation will resonate with any parent who has looked lovingly at their young children in their sleeping innocence, but also realises how fragile life can be.
Most of the design will be self evident, but I will confirm that the small dark-green stone in the 'kiss' is an emerald (representing youth), and that the cabochon is malachite. I have used malachite because it was traditionally considered to be a protector of children, and would have been hung over their beds.
The 'egg' shape is also deliberate.
The piece is 44mm long and is on a 42cm (16") rubber cord with silver
clasp. The slightly curved body is in 0.5mm silver, so is nice and
light to wear. The hallmarked on the back.
Malachite is a porous stone, so my general recommendation to use a dip to clean textured silver should be treated with caution here. I have cleaned it with solution, but do it by applying the solution with a brush.
