"Feelin' Good"

Pendant 30 - "Feelin' Good"

There's quite a fascinating story behind this piece, which I made with a specific person in mind, but things didn't work out so I won't go into details.  It was all a bit sad in the end.

Still, life goes on, n'est pas?  Appropriate sentiments, really, because the music is the opening bars of the song "Feeling Good";  written by Anthony Newley  and best known by many, I suspect, as performed by Nina Simone.*

If you are not familier with it, it begins

"Birds flying high; you know how I feel
Sun in the sky; you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by; you know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good........."

The symbol in the centre is also significant given that the lady of the story is a Buddhist.  It is the Shrivatsa symbol (also known as the "endless knot"), and symbolises, among many other things.....

"the dramatic interplay and interaction of the opposing forces in the dualistic world of manifestation, leading to their union, and ultimately to harmony in the universe"

.....  which is good, I think.

Whatever, this is a really nice solid piece, made by etching the design into a disc of silver which I then domed before inlaying a deep blue enamel.  It's ~55mm diameter, and I have set it on a 4mm rubber cord; choker length.

The piece is hallmarked.
