"Sea Flower" Pendant

Commissioning

Don't forget that, if you like my work generally, but can't see the special thing that you wanted, you can always commission something

It could be something with a special stone, different colours, or just a simple shape to reflect an interest.  It would be a piece 'about you'.... or a friend.  This simple pendant was commissioned as a present.

About Me.

Photograph of Ian AddisonEnough with the serious stuff, let's get on with some heavy mucking about.*

If you haven't noticed yet, I really don't like to take life too seriously.  I never did, and don't intend to start doing so now.  So it is with my jewellery.

I began making after retiring, growing my hair, and coming to enjoy life again (I've since cut it, but I'm still enjoying life).

I shall now make a thinly veiled attempt to convince you that I am a warm and caring human being who you simply must buy lots of jewellery from by throwing in a picture of my cat.

Benny - My Maine Coon

Meet Benny.  He's a Maine Coon, and one of the nicest cats you will ever meet.  Silver-cream is the colour.  Appropriate, eh?

I had thought that the fun in making jewellery would be the actual fabrication process (well, I’m a bloke, so I would, wouldn’t I?).  Then I found that sitting there with a sketch pad, dreaming and designing was fun as well.

What I wasn’t prepared for was the tension, the anticipation, the relief and the joy that I got when I presented my first commission to my first customer and saw the delight on her face.

I try to produce things that are just a little bit different, but still easily wearable.  And, in many cases, they will be 'one-off's, so you know that you will be wearing something unique.

You can read more about the design themes behind many of my pieces but, whatever the inspiration, to produce a beautiful object and to learn something new in the process is a wonderful reward.

I make jewellery for pleasure and if I can bring some to you, too, then so much the better.

* nicked that from Frankie Goes To Hollywood (Welcome to the Pleasuredome, I think).
